Halcyon Gallery | FAME by Russell Young | Video
Fame by Russell Young
FAME by Russell Young ushers in a new decade, marking the next chapter in Young’s ongoing exploration of celebrity as a cultural phenomenon. It features a stunning roll call of the great and the good, writ large in beautiful California colours and drenched in his signature diamond dust and a new series of Text Paintings.
Shown here for the first time, these text paintings demonstrate the artist’s love of music and film by introducing text from song titles, lyrics and quotes to his compositions. The works, which include playful combinations such as Brigitte Bardot Born to be Wild, Brando Bike Rebel Rebel and Bob Dylan Like a Rolling Stone, offer a rare personal insight into the artist’s mind and ideas about the celebrities he portrays.

Massimo Bartolini: Credits
Massimo Bartolini’s work embraces various materials and techniques, from sculpture and performance to photography. His works have included an elevated floor that created the impression of distorted space; an installation in which a device on the heel of a visitor’s shoes altered the light in the exhibition space; and rooms suffused with perfume and the sound of leaking water. These, often sensual, artworks induce in the viewer a meditative state that is still highly experiential, making us reflect on the relativity of what is stable and unchangeable.
