Project Description
About Angela Wilkie
Living near the beautiful Northumberland coast In the U.K. I am never short of inspiration for my artwork. I consider myself a Mixed Media Contemporary Artist as I love to experiment with paint and mediums both natural and synthetic. The narrative starts with being ‘present’ , my sketchbook and photography. I hope my love of colour and the emotional connection with it can be seen in my paintings but it is something I am constantly working on.
I have been lucky enough to have been tutored by some wonderful artists such as Soraya French, Anne Bosset in France and the Californian artist Nicholas Wilton . Each of them have influenced my work in some way. I am lucky enough to have my very own Garden Studio which means that I can paint when inspiration calls and I hope it always does!

Currently working on a series of paintings inspired by my first trip out of ‘lockdown’. I have memories of a lovely picnic perched at the top of a coastal path looking down at the rock strata as the tide was slowly coming back in. Somehow the sheer pleasure of being out on such a beautiful day made me see the colours in a more exaggerated way. I captured them in my sketchbook and I’m currently working on this series.
