A Fine Line in Fashion

The Art of Gladys Perint Palmer

A Fine Line in Fashion brings together over 30 original fashion illustrations to celebrate the acclaimed fashion illustrator, journalist and author Gladys Perint Palmer in a retrospective of her outstanding life in fashion. GPP (as she is known in the industry) has lit up the pages of publications including Vogue, The New York Times, L’Officiel, Grazia, Harper’s Bazaar, The Sunday Times and San Francisco Examiner with her electric illustrations for the last forty years. The exhibition was staged by Gray M.C.A at Cromwell Place in London and will move to the gallery’s Bath space from 2 March to 30 April 2022.

ABOUT GRAY M.C.A

Gray M.C.A is the leading international art gallery in the specialist art field of original fashion illustration, focusing on original artworks by the 20th century masters and a small select field of contemporary masters.

With a particular focus on artists from the golden age of fashion illustration, Gray M.C.A looks to uncover the artworks by the grand masters of fashion illustration including Carl Erickson (1891 – 1958), Pierre Mourgue (1890 – 1969), René Bouché (1905 – 1963), René Gruau (1909 – 2004), and the great Antonio (1942 – 1987).

The gallery represents the artist archives of Kenneth Paul Block (1924 – 2009), Robert Melendez (b.1944), Robert Passantino (b.1945) and Steven Stipelman (b.1944) – all outstandingly talented fashion artists who worked predominantly for WWD and W Magazine. Also represented is the work of Gladys Perint Palmer (b.1947), a renowned illustrator who dominated fashion pages internationally from the 1980s to the 2000s.

Amongst the small, select stable of contemporary masters, Gray M.C.A works with David Downton (b.1959), Andrea Ferolla (b.1961), Ali Mahdavi (b.1974), Bil Donovan (b.1953), and Jason Brooks (b.1969).

Gray M.C.A curates the internationally acclaimed exhibition Drawing on Style in London during London Fashion Week each September and also exhibits bi-annually in New York, at exhibitions including Master Drawings New York.
