We Are UCLMS

This portrait collection of alumni and students aims to represent UCL Medical School and the variety of personalities, interests and journeys that make it the vibrant community it is today. The students were nominated by peers and staff who felt inspired by them, with the responses illustrating the huge range of backgrounds, imaginations and ambitions that comprise the student body. The alumni were selected for their ‘curious careers’. The are people who can spark students’ passion for exploring the great variety of paths to travel in medicine, beyond simply the multitude of specialities. Each person featured in the exhibition is wearing a white article of clothing as a nod to the white coat as a symbol for the medical profession. The location of the portraits is each subject’s favourite place at UCL.

All the photographs are by Apoorva Kanojia, a medical student who was selected for her photography experience gained through a course funded by the Heller Bursary, which supports medical students to pursue their interests in arts and humanities.
